Artificial Intelligence has begun doing the rounds of celluloid while at the same time dominating scientific journals. So much of mainstream media is covering the subject that often they throw industry jargon helter-skelter at the public. Granted, although AI is a complicated subject matter, on the whole, it is a key element of the evolving data science industry. Data science in itself is based on inter-disciplinary domains such as machine learning, data analysis, and statistical programming. Autonomous

 

The term indicates that a machine is handling all its operations without human intervention. With the help of machine learning algorithms, developers found a way to make computer programs perform repetitive tasks such as data entry, data extraction, etc. A highly complex application of it becomes an autonomous car that takes turns, puts the brakes on, and starts at the right time. Further, autonomous technology can be explored in factories fitted with robots. 

 

Natural Language Processing

 

NLP is a machine’s ability to learn forms of human language in both verbal and written formats. The reason you would hear much about it is that home smart appliances that are central to our everyday lives such as voice speakers and chatbots rely on NLP mechanisms. The time when you are typing a message on WhatsApp and it gets self-corrected is also an application of NLP. 

 

Facial Recognition

 

It is the technique that AI codes use to recognize people’s faces. They do so by mapping nodal points on the face and then recreating a graphic image of it in a faceprint. Places such as airports, ATMs, and federal offices use facial recognition to maintain a high level of security. 

 

Turing Test

 

This test was innovated by acclaimed scientist Alan Turing in the 20th century. It is used to determine the eligibility of a supposed “AI” program to be officially termed AI. A human volunteer is made to communicate with the machine, and if he/she cannot determine the true nature of the responder, then the machine is termed Artificial Intelligence. 

 

Spam Filters 

 

Artificial neural networks help the code swift the data for certain parameters. Spam flyers are used by your email clients such as Gmail, and Yahoo mail. They use it to block the content that they think is spam-worthy, but how do they do so? Your email client studies your preferences when it makes you mark an email as spam or not spam. After a while, the code gets self-sufficient in categorizing the incoming emails and marks is accordingly.
